FAQ

what are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are growing in popularity and has become a trend that is here to stay. Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent and are applied to your natural lashes to thicken and lengthen the look of your lashes. I only use synthetic mink and silk lashes. Using pharmaceutical grade adhesive, these strands/extensions are placed on your natural lashes. Depending on what look you are wanting, they can be applied at a 1:1 ratio (Classic) or 2-6:1 of lighter lashes (Volume)- as described below. Eyelash extensions are perfect for day-to-day wear or special occasions (weddings, parties etc). This service requires fine motor skills and precision in order for the extensions to be applied properly.

what are the different types of eyelash extensions?

Classic: Using pharmaceutical grade eyelash adhesive, super soft mink lashes are applied to each of your natural lashes individually, at a 1:1 ratio. This creates a beautiful, soft and natural look. I ensure each lash is properly isolated and using just the right amount of glue to apply it.

Volume: Volume lashes are applied the same way as Classic, except the number of lashes applied per natural lash. Using pharmaceutical grade eyelash adhesive, super soft mink lashes are applied to each of your natural lashes individually, at a 2D (2:1), 3D (3:1), 4D (4:1) and up to 6D (6:1) ratio. These lashes are much lighter than the lashes used for classic. This creates a beautiful, bold and volumunious look to your eyes!

what is the process of applying them?

I always begin each appointment with a consultation to discuss what look you are trying to achieve. I will assess the conditions of your natural lashes and advise you on what weight of lashes will be best  for you. This is to ensure we maintain the health of your natural lash. You will lie down on the massage table, get comfortable and the process begins. I will tape down your lower lashes, this will prevent me from gluing the extension on your lower lash line. With your eyes closed, I will isolate each of your natural lash and apply the extension, WITHOUT touching your skin. All you have to do is relax during the process :).

how long does the appointment take?

Classic Full Set: approx 2 hours

Classic Fill: approx 1-1.5 hours

Volume Full Set: approx 2.5-3 hours

Volume Fill: approx 2-2.5 hours

Quality lashing takes time!

how long do the extensions last for?

Much like your hair (or think of your lashes like snake skin), your lashes have a natural growth and shed cycle. Your natural lashes have a lifespan of 60-75 days and not all of our lashes are at the same stage. Your natural lashes actually don't know you have extensions on! It is completely normal that your lashes shed regardless, even if you apply mascara or wear eyelash extensions. As your lashes sheds, a new lash is growing right behind it. Depending on retention and your lash cycle (everyone is different), eyelash extensions will last anywhere between 2-4 weeks. This is why I encourage you to come back for fills to maintain a full look. As your natural lashes shed the extension will also shed with it, so overtime the extensions will look less or grown out- THIS IS COMPLETELY NORMAL! Everyone will be different based on your day-today activities. If you return with less than 40% left of extensions, you will be charged a new set (as it will take more time to apply more lashes).

how often do i need to come back?

Depending on your natural lash cycle and retention, you will need to come back 2-4 weeks to maintain the full eyelash extensions look.

will it damage my natural lashes?

No, reasons why it will not damage your natural lashes:

  • If your lash technician is trained properly and does your extensions properly!

  • If the natural lash isolated and the extensions are placed properly

  • If minimal adhesive is used and is not touching the skin

  • Most importantly: If you follow the after care instructions!

Reasons why it can damage your natural lashes:

  • TOO much adhesive is used

  • The extensions are applied to your skin

  • Use of cluster lashes is used

  • If your lash technician is NOT trained properly and does your extensions improperly!

  • If you DON'T follow the after care instructions!

i never had eyelash extensions before, how do i know i won't get an allergic reaction?

If the eyelash extensions are done properly and are not applied to the skin, then there is a reduce risk of a reaction. A small percentage of clients develop a reaction, which resolves after the removal of the lashes. Generally, a patch test is done 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. If you never had eyelash extensions before or worried about getting an allergic reaction from the adhesive, kindly let me know and we will set up a complimentary patch test 24-48 hours prior to your initial appointment. This will ensure we are taking the precautions.

No! You won't need to! It is strongly advise that you don't curl your lashes with a mechanical eyelash curler. This will not only damage the extensions but will also damage your natural lashes.

how do i take care of my lashes and why is it so important?

Taking care of your lashes will not only ensures they last longer/longer rentetion (which means longer time between fills)  but also prevents future eye infections and complications! You are more likely to develop eye infections not because of eyelash extensions itself, but because you don't follow the proper aftercare by washing your extensions daily. We wash our face, and eyes everyday! Some clients are afraid to touch their extensions, fearing they will fall out and end up not properly cleaning them- but that is not the case.

Follow these aftercare instructions:

  • Do not get your extensions wet for 24 hours

  • No showering, steam rooms, saunas, hot yoga, swimming for 24 hours

  • Use only oil-free makeup remover

  • Try to sleep on your back!

  • Avoid picking, or pulling your eye lashes

  • Do your best to not rub your eyes vigourously

  • Do not rub, pick or pull your eyes

what if i don't like my lashes- do you offer a refund?

Please review my Refund Policy under "General Information & Policies".
